Company in brief PiezoMotor AB was founded to meet world need for a new micro-motor technology that would enable the continued development of ever smaller and more advanced products such as mobile phones, tablets and medical devices. This global demand for higher precision and greater miniaturization spans a broad array of industries. The company is based on micro-motion research conducted at Uppsala University, Sweden, since the mid-1980s. Following years of fruitful investigation, Prof. Stefan Johansson and Dr. Mats Bexell were awarded numerous prizes for their new rotating piezoelectric micro-motor. In the late 1990s, PiezoMotor AB developed the basis of the linear piezo motor that eventually led to our first product – Piezo LEGS®. Since the first shipments to customers in 2002, we have supplied end-users in a growing number of market segments with Piezo LEGS® technology. In 2007, PiezoMotor AB signed an investment and collaboration agreement with the FAULHABER Group, making FAULHABER one of the shareholders in the company. Founded in 1947, FAULHABER is a privately held group of companies renowned for their microdrive, precision and microsystem technologies with around 1,500 employees in 31 countries. With unique, patented products, in-house manufacturing and global distribution, PiezoMotor AB laid the foundation to grow rapidly. In 2013, our revenue growth was more than 60%. Today, we ship products to customers working with semiconductors, advanced optics, medical technology, automation, hand-held devices, etc. |
